uTorrent is one of the most widely used torrent downloading client. Sometimes, it happens that we remove some unfinished torrent from the uTorrent by mistake. When you remove the torrent, the downloaded files remain on hard disk, only torrent is removed from the download list. Sometimes, we intentionally remove the torrent (and downloaded data) from the client but later on want to add it back to download list. There is no provision of undo the delete operation in uTorrent. You have to find the deleted torrent and add it manually to complete the download. This post is all about how to recover accidentally removed torrent and resume downloading. This guide is specific to uTorrent client but it also works for other torrent clients.
Recover accidentally removed torrent
- If you have accidentally removed a unfinished torrent by using the Remove option, the torrent is removed from your download list but the downloaded data remains on the disk.
- In order to add the torrent file back to the client and resume download, we need to open the folder where uTorrent store all the torrent files.
- Navigate to C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent. Here replace {Username} with your own account name. This folder store all the torrent files that you have added to the uTorrent client. The AppData folder is hidden by default. So, if it is not visible, you have to enable Hidden Items under the View menu.
- You can search for your torrent file by using the Ctrl+F. Once found, double click it to add it to uTorrent. As the downloaded data is still on your hard drive, it will check it and resume the download.
- If you have removed the torrent file using the option Remove and Delete .torrent and data, the torrent file and the downloaded data moves to the recycle bin. Open the recycle bin and look for the torrent file and the data file. Restore them by right clicking and selecting Restore.
- Once restored, again navigate to the C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent location and add the torrent file. The download will resume after checking of data. Here note that the deleted data must be restored to the same location from where it was deleted.
Also note that if you already cleared the recycle bin, it is very difficult to add the torrent back and resume the download. In such case, you have to find the torrent from the web and download it from beginning.
Thank you very much. I was very scared I will have to start downloading the torrent again. It was a game which had a 7.84GB file and it was 80% through
Thanks man! you made my day. I was scared to download that file again. you saved my ass
Users-app data-roaming-no utorrent. I accidentally selected remove torrent+data
Hi
I did all that you mentioned here but it shows my torrent file completed and shows it SEEDING rather than DOWNLOADING.
What to do?
god bless you
My problem is that I have LOTS of torrent files and have a couple dozen active downloads. I was trying to remove a finished download, but when I clicked to remove, the list changed order and another entry was removed. I don’t know which one it was. I’ve been going through every torrent to see if it shows finished as opposed to continuing to download. It takes around 5 minutes for each one. Unless someone has a brilliant idea, it looks like I have a couple months of work in my future.
Thanks MAN (Y)
Is it very difficult of impossible to recover a torrent which in removed from the recycle bin? I tried to find a solution for this but didn’t found any.
Thankyou very much you save my day.
great, thanks. be you keep gaining and giving……..
Thank you very much man !!!!!!!!!!!
Can u help me with this on Android
Nice explanation. The only thing I think you missed is not mentioning that one needs to restore from recycle bin if one has deleted the file, because it wont be found in the file location unless you restore.
Again, nice job!
Thanks, it works perfectly
